DMCA Takedown Policy

RUNO is a publishing platform for independent authors of original web novels — every novel and chapter is uploaded by the author credited on it. We do not pre-screen submissions. If you believe a user has uploaded content that infringes your copyright, you can submit a takedown notice and we will act on it promptly.

Filing a DMCA Takedown Notice

To file a valid DMCA notice, send an email to our designated agent:

Your notice must include:

  1. Identification of the copyrighted work — Describe the original work you claim is being infringed (title, author, publisher, ISBN, or link to the original source).
  2. Identification of the infringing content — Provide the specific URL(s) on RUNO where the infringing material is located.
  3. Your contact information — Full name, email address, phone number, and mailing address.
  4. Good-faith statement — A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  5. Accuracy statement — A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.
  6. Your signature — A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized agent.

What Happens After Filing

  • We review your notice within 48 hours of receipt.
  • If the notice is valid, the infringing content will be removed or disabled.
  • The user who posted the content is notified of the takedown and given a chance to counter-notify.
  • If we receive a valid counter-notification, we may restore the content after 10-14 business days unless the original filer notifies us they've filed a lawsuit.

Counter-Notification

If you believe your content was removed in error, file a counter-notification to [email protected] with:

  1. Identification of the removed content and its former location.
  2. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed by mistake or misidentification.
  3. Your name, address, phone number, and consent to the jurisdiction of your local federal court.
  4. Your physical or electronic signature.

Filing a counter-notification in bad faith may expose you to liability.

Repeat Infringer Policy

In accordance with Section 512(i) of the DMCA, RUNO terminates — in appropriate circumstances — accounts of users who are determined to be repeat infringers. A user is considered a repeat infringer if they are the subject of two or more valid copyright takedown notices, or if they have otherwise repeatedly infringed the rights of others. We may also terminate accounts after a single egregious violation.

Important Notes

  • Filing a false DMCA notice may result in legal liability under Section 512(f) of the DMCA.
  • RUNO is a user-generated content platform. Every novel and chapter is uploaded by an independent author. We do not pre-screen uploads but act promptly on valid notices.
  • For non-copyright concerns — harassment, spam, hate, sexual content involving minors, or other Terms violations — use the in-app Report button (visible on every novel, chapter, comment, thread, and profile) or email [email protected].
